I love this beautiful city and when visiting this majestic place can never NOT conduct a major urban hike! It is such a great place to walk (the bay, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge, Alcatraz, boats, fog!!! Crazy beautiful!). My poor husband, though, always wants to relax but I always make him walk. This time for 13 miles! But, it keeps us young! And we did take the time to enjoy the views & rest. So where did our walk take us? Well, the first leg of our journey took us through beautiful Presidio Park and then along the beaches to the Marina. After a nice stretch out on the grass we headed for the Wharf for a spot of lunch and then continued down to Chinatown. I love Chinatown! We stopped for a lovely tea tasting where we were treated to a wonderful array of great teas. I ended up purchasing some tasty Chrysanthemum tea to bring home. I buy tea from all over but I can't help myself when visiting a place like this. From there we ventured down to UNION SQUARE - BUT FIRST, we had to hit Coit Tower! The steps to the tower remind you that you still have strength left in those legs of yours! And boy, did we ever! PHEW! After Coit Tower and the crowds at Union Square, we journeyed our way up the hill to Japan Town where I perused some lovely stationary shops (I love fountain pens, great paper & stationary!). After buying some fun postcards for friends it was time for dinner with some wonderful Japanese cuisine! YUM!! Then one last spot of tea before the last leg of our hike where we walked back to our lodging arm in arm as the evening fog came in. There is nothing like relaxing after a long day in the sun and fresh air. So rewarding! Of course there are many other great places in San Fran to explore and we always make a point to do a different tour every time we are there. This time, however, it just seemed "the way" ... Thank you! SAN FRAN. We are forever grateful!
