We send our best wishes to the Lindgren family and guests attending the 2014 Daly Memorial Charity Golf Tournament in support of SIDS (sudden infant death) research and in honor of our niece, Daly Alexandra Lindgren, who would have been a freshman in high school today! Since her loss my brother, his wife and their family have dedicated themselves to moving the ball forward to elucidate the underlying causes of SIDS. It is a slow and steady process but so far their golf tournaments have raised more than $120,000 towards SIDS research! This is a beautiful event in beautiful Coronado, San Diego! Unbeaten Path is proud of their work and efforts and we are with you today in spirit! As always! Love you all!
Please visit their event link, learn more about SIDS and consider signing up for next year's event!

President Barack Obama made it official Tuesday with an executive order bringing the Point Arena-Stornetta Public Lands into the California Coastal National Monument. That's 1,665 acres of land (and coastal region) that will forever be protected for everyone to enjoy and cherish! This is a huge accomplishment through the hard work of many people. WE THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR HARD WORK TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN. See the dedication video of President Obama here
Unbeaten Path is proud to help act as stewards of this precious gift and to make visiting the Sonoma and Mendocino Coast a truly memorable experience. One thing I highly value is that a unique and good tour guide can provide depth and perspective to a person’s experience. A good tour guide can take dry, 2 dimensional facts and make them tangible and memorable. With this said: the views alone are stunning in our special region here on the Mendocino and Sonoma County coast - but there is so much more to know, respect and to remember about this unique region of the world. With each of my guests I work hard to ensure they go back home with a new sense of knowledge and a priceless memory of their visit that stays with them. To me, touring in a new place with a good guide is the difference between scanning a piece of sheet music or hearing a choir sing it out loud and proud! A good guide immerses you in the experience - an experience you never forget. And that's what Unbeaten Path strives to do with each and every one of our tours! I truly believe this - that is why I started Unbeaten Path! I love to travel - and when I visit a place that hits all the right notes - I know that it is not just because of the place but because of the people, too!… and when that happens I always go back! AND THAT's THE TRUTH! Please visit our hiking tours page to learn more about our unique tours - or, better yet, in honor of the Stornetta Public Lands, check out our Stornetta Tour photos of this special place as well as our Mendonoma photos! ! - Here's a picture of the waterfall on the Stornetta Tour! Attention all tennis fans! Unbeaten Path will be featured in a silent auction at the VIP booth at the BNP Paribas Tennis Open in Indian Wells, California! This is HUGE event and we are very excited to be a part of the action! Walk as if your feet are kissing the Earth - Thich Nhat Hanh A walk after several days of rainfall provided a taste of Spring - already! One sure sign that Spring is on its way is the flowering Wake Robin - or Trillium - that can be seen along the moist forest floor. The nickname Wake Robin stems from the fact that these delicate wonders pop up just as the robins (bird) make their return from winter. Here are some cool facts about Wake Robins:
I love seeing these when I walk the forest - just a delicate sight to behold. Below are some pics from our Hillside Loop trail - just a couple - the redwoods enchant me at this time of year. We also saw the beginnings of the wonderful Fetid Adders Tongue - it is so much fun to walk the woods and explore. Come join us! Today - we endeavor to explore the incredible Stornetta Lands! Photos to come! But, for now, a sneak peak of Spring in the redwoods! The best way is always through - Robert Frost You know you are with the right people in your life when you can grow and evolve with them. The best way IS always through - because you are willing to takes chances together - to try to live life doing what you love, to learn new things and to embrace all that happens in life. Robert Frost also said that "Happiness makes up in height what it lacks in length!" and that makes all the difference, doesn't it? If you read about Saint Valentine and his work - the best way through was to follow your path and destiny in life, to be ready for the good or the bad and to do it with true love and passion! I am forever grateful that I have the opportunity to do this with a great partner, friend, fellow foodie, debater and traveler … my hubby. Thank you for making a way through with me! Whether you make your way through with or without someone - Valentines, to me, is about the love of life - about embracing all the things that come with taking the chance to walk your very own Unbeaten Path! This was the view from the golf course this morning after a bought of much needed rain… such a pretty place to be when you are not hiking!
Winter along the Northern California coast is like none other. I love the lighting our winter skies create - great for late afternoon photography, where high clouds make for purple hues and, when the sun pokes out, the greens and blues of the ocean and sky come to life. Visit Sea Ranch Escape's page dedicated to UNBEATEN PATH!!!! Thank you, Sea Ranch Escapes! We look forward to working with you and your guests! This weekend I was invited to attend the Blanchard Family Winemaker's Dinner at The Sea Ranch Lodge and what a special event it was - and there are more to come! The Winemaker's Dinners are a wonderful collaboration of premier wines and culinary flare which make exploring and tasting new wines so much fun! (see pictures below) I highly recommend it for a great time out and a great way to enjoy your stay at The Sea Ranch Lodge. The Blanchard Family Winemaker's Dinner was fabulous! Mark Blanchard and his brother, James, own and operate Blanchard Family Wine. At the Winemaker's Dinner event Mark shared his passion, great stories and amazing wines. Their wines are from various appellations of Sonoma County (go Sonoma!), are extremely low-production and limited in availability. Each wine is a unique gem in a bottle and is meant to be shared with friends and family - and that is exactly what it felt like at the Winemakers Dinner. To see details on the menu (a fabulous 5 course meal - each paired with an exquisite wine!) visit The Sea Ranch Lodge Facebook Page - and see what is coming next! Lastly, a special thank you to Terry & Lowell Johnson, The Sea Ranch Lodge's fantastic Management & Marketing duo. Since their arrival last June we have witnessed a new vigor and buzz with all of their events and we are very grateful to have them with us here in our beautiful corner of the world. SO WHILE YOU PLAN YOUR HIKING TOUR WITH UNBEATEN PATH … Keep Your Calendars Marked! For an overview and specific dates of the next Winemaker Dinner events (as well as other fun things happening at The Sea Ranch Lodge) be sure to visit their Special Events page on their website! Below is a quick list of next Winemaker Dinner dates
