You never know until you try - so go for it.  I loved coloring these eggs. You never know what you're gonna get when you color them.  Each one unique and different ... coloring them is like receiving a gift.

That is why, when you look outside around you, you can see yourself. - Thich Nhat Hanh
Well, the word is that some possible rain is in store and with that we get a stand-still ocean before the front comes in.  Whales were in abundance! Many mom's with their calves.  We must have seen 20 spouts on and off through out our Salt Point Journey ... always the best... Thank's Harmony for joining Unbeaten Path today!

Our Urban Hike Weekend!

Picture
We were very pleased to take a day in the City this week. San Francisco, that is!  I love this beautiful city and when visiting this majestic place can never NOT conduct a major urban hike! It is such a great place to walk (the bay, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge, Alcatraz, boats, fog!!!  Crazy beautiful!).

My poor husband, though, always wants to relax but I always make him walk.  This time for 13 miles! But, it keeps us young! And we did take the time to enjoy the views & rest.
So where did our walk take us?

Well, the first leg of our journey took us through beautiful Presidio Park and then along the beaches to the Marina.  After a nice stretch out on the grass we headed for the Wharf for a spot of lunch and then continued down to Chinatown.  I love Chinatown!  We stopped for a lovely tea tasting where we were treated to a wonderful array of great teas.  I ended up purchasing some tasty Chrysanthemum tea to bring home.  I buy tea from all over but I can't help myself when visiting a place like this.

From there we ventured down to UNION SQUARE - BUT FIRST, we had to hit Coit Tower! The steps to the tower remind you that you still have strength left in those legs of yours! And boy, did we ever! PHEW!

After Coit Tower and the crowds at Union Square, we journeyed our way up the hill to Japan Town where I perused some lovely stationary shops (I love fountain pens, great paper & stationary!). After buying some fun postcards for friends it was time for dinner with some wonderful Japanese cuisine!  YUM!!  Then one last spot of tea before the last leg of our hike where we walked back to our lodging arm in arm as the evening fog came in.  There is nothing like relaxing after a long day in the sun and fresh air.  So rewarding!

Of course there are many other great places in San Fran to explore and we always make a point to do a different tour every time we are there.  This time, however, it just seemed "the way" ... Thank you! SAN FRAN. We are forever grateful!

“One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar.” - Helen Keller
This morning we took some time away from hiking to rest our legs and to spend time with good friends to enjoy the Kite Show at the Point Arena Light House.  What a special day with a great lunch at the Rollerville Cafe and an after lunch stroll along the Stornetta lands.

After Enlightenment, the laundry!

Enlightenment always comes first and the redwoods are a great place to enjoy it. Here are some of my photos I call "Redwoods in Movement". I love looking up to the tree tops. The intensity of the redwood branches as they bend, grow and reach to the sky  move me.  I had fun moving my iPhone camera as I took some of these pics.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.  I have included some other beautiful pics of some Bay Laurel trees as well.

March Madness! When Ideas Blossom!

Ideas are like rabbits.  You get a couple and learn how to handle them, and pretty soon you have a dozen!" - John Steinbeck
That's a very true statement by Mr. Steinbeck!  As many of us on the Northern Cal coast know, the winds this time of the year can be gale force!  To escape the winds we take to the hidden trails making discoveries of new spring blossoms and enjoying the ocean views from the ridge whilst resting in soothing sunshine.  Later, after a spot of tea and a late afternoon's rest, it's off to Point Arena Theatre to dance the blues away with Tommy Castro & the Painkillers blues band (they were AWESOME)! The next morning: it's out to the golf course before the hearty winds hit us and then back to the trails! .... I love life when it's like this - One great idea after another!
